Here there be monsters! (a.k.a. humans)

The Commander speaks: 31. December 2011 a.d. The year is about to end. What can we expect to be different? Well, for one thing, we're gonna have to gets used to writing 2012 instead of 2011. Do you have any idea of how annoying that can be!? I've just gotten used to writing the old number, and now we're gonna have to write a whole new number!? It's not even a very different number, it just has one digit replaced with one slightly higher valued! Every day we change the number of the day, and every month we change the number of the month, but those happen so often we hardly notice it anymore. But changing the number of the year is something that doesn't happen all that often, and so we're not used to changing it. It's just so annoying! If we're gonna have to change this number, couldn't we at least make it more interesting? Voting is popular nowadays. Why not have people call in and suggest the next number to be used, and the one mentioned most becomes the official number for the year. And if we add letters it could become just as interesting as some of those registry plates on cars! Can you imagine that!? Actually, I can imagine that. Never mind. Signing off.
